Elements and Performance Criteria

  1. Monitor aircraft systems during normal flight
  2. Aircraft systems, sub-systems (equipment) and devices are monitored using a systematic scan technique
  3. Aircraft systems and flight environment information is analysed to identify actual and potential threats or errors
  4. Hazards are identified, risks assessed and risk management processes implemented
  5. Checklist procedures are completed as appropriate to aircraft system
  6. Monitor aircraft systems during abnormal and emergency procedures
  7. Aircraft flight path is monitored during abnormal and emergency response procedures
  8. Affected aircraft system or sub-system is identified and confirmed
  9. Appropriate abnormal or emergency procedures are identified
  10. Inputs into course of action is provided to achieve safest outcomes
  11. Aircraft emergency systems are monitored continually during abnormal and emergency situations
  12. Monitor flight conditions
  13. Aircraft altitude, attitude and heading are monitored
  14. Situational awareness is maintained to ensure safe flight
  15. Fuel usage is monitored
  16. Aircraft operating limits are monitored and advice provided to pilot in command (PIC)
  17. Operational documentation is interpreted and information provided to PIC
  18. Aircraft operational checks are completed
  19. Respond to abnormal/emergency situations
  20. Abnormal/emergency response is undertaken in accordance with aircraft checklists, pilot directions and organisational policy and procedures
